IntroductionHe was just about the strangest boy I had ever met. It wasn’t really his odd fashion sense—a mismatch of clothes from all sorts of time periods and cultures, ranging from ancient China to modern cybergoth fashion—or the fact that he was loud and obnoxious when he talked, or the fact that he had offered to show me his collection of recently-caught fish eggs when we first met. No, really, the strangest thing about this boy—Whisk, he called himself, and it was fitting—was that his left hand was missing. Danse MacabreThe man’s music started off slow and somber, as though he were playing a funeral tune. The notes were long and drawn out, imposing, sending shivers down the high-class audience’s spines. The man, sitting before his grand piano, wore a look of intense concentration on his face, pouring all his energy into playing the haunting melody.  
 
He quickly broke off into a string of lighter notes, a prelude into something more exuberant and merry.
